Creating a holistic support system and providing housing for returning citizens.
Lorman House endeavors to promote social and economic well-being in Sandtown-Winchester by offering its residents housing, occupational training, in-house employment opportunities, holistic spiritual and moral support, and referrals to local counseling, educational and rehabilitation services for the residents, and complete societal reintegration as returning citizens.
Governance at Lorman House is compassionate yet highly structured. Strict rules that include set curfews, monitored visits, and maintaining employment, are balanced with initiatives to help residents bond, respect one another, work harmoniously together, and become productive, contributing members of the Sandtown-Winchester community.
Lorman House is located at 1707 Lorman St. in the Sandtown-Winchester community of Baltimore, one block east of S2L2Farms. The second floor currently houses residents in five single occupancy bedrooms.
Future renovations aim to feature individual, private rooms for up to eight residents; comfortable, shared living room and dining room spaces for meetings, mealtime, and recreation; complete laundry facilities; and an on-site commercial kitchen to facilitate its licensed catering services and specialty-foods product sales to the retail market.
